The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program continues to accept applications from individuals who entered before the age of 16

At the Nido Nylund Offices, we are proud to say that we can help thousands of families through different programs and laws that the U.S. Government has for immigrants.
One of the programs that allows us to help many young people in the United States is the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
DACA was created in 2012 to provide certain protections and benefits to young immigrants who came to the United States as children. DACA recipients, also known as Dreamers, are granted deferred action, which is a temporary deferral from deportation and the ability to work legally in the United States.
To benefit from DACA, a person must meet certain eligibility requirements. They must have come to the United States before the age of 16, have continuously lived in the United States for at least five years and be currently enrolled in school, have graduated from high school or have a GED, or be an honorably discharged veteran. They must also have a clean criminal record and not pose a threat to national security or public safety.
Once a person meets these requirements and is approved for DACA, they are granted a two-year period of deferred action and are eligible to apply for a work permit. This allows them to work legally in the United States and pay taxes, as well as obtain a driver's license in some states.
Overall, DACA can provide immigrant youth with the opportunity to work, go to school, and live without fear of deportation. It can also provide a sense of security and stability for Dreamers and their families.
